Trivia - Sherlock Holmes Inn

Sherlock Holmes Inn 415 Collins St, Melbourne

Join us for a trivia night at the Sherlock Holmes on Collins Street which is a British styled pub located on Collins Street.

The trivia night is hosted by comedian Janet McLeod and offers winners $50 food & drink vouchers as well as quiz rounds for Jugs of Beer, Bottles of wine etc. Janet is a well respected comedian and has a way of getting you involved in the night.

The Sherlock Holmes opened in 1985 and the hostelry has been extremely well received, as have its comestibles, ales wines and spirits. So much so that the worst criticism has been that the establishment is too small for the large numbers of discerning citizens who wish to avail themselves of the sundry attractions which this unique tavern affords.

Here is a home for the aficionados of the works of the eneffable Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, where the friendly shades of Dr Watson, Professor Moriarty (a changed man since he went over the falls) and the Stradivarius-playing, opium-smoking genius himself, the Great Detective, await your pleasure.

So meet Nicole at the reserved table for a fun trivia night.

Barefoot Bowls at Middle Park and Dinner at Middle Park Hotel

Middle Park Bowling Club, Albert Park Reserve, Middle Park

Join us for some barefoot bowls in Middle Park and then dinner at the Middle Park Hotel

Play a fun game of casual lawn bowls with other novices with a full induction before we step on to the rink. Learn how to roll the biased balls so that they stop close to the smaller ball called a \"jack\" and have fun trying to get your balls closest to the jack.

After bowls, we will cross the road to the Middle Park Hotel for dinner and drinks.

How to get to Middle Park Bowling Club:

Public Transport Catch the number 96 lightrail, get off at the Middle Park Stop and walk into the park.

By Car: The road into the club is a laneway that goes off Canterbury Road, under the light rail line and into the park. The laneway is opposite the Middle Park Hotel. It is almost a continuation of Armstrong Street but you can only get into it from Canterbury Road when driving from the city towards St Kilda.

Coming from St Kilda you have to go past the Middle Park Hotel and make a U-Turn at Nimmo Street. There is plenty of parking on the other side of the light rail line.

Meet Selena at the Middle Park Bowling Club. The cost is for lawn bowls only with all food and drinks at own expense.

If cocktails are more your thing, you can’t go past one of the DIY kocktail kits, tap cocktails or spiked slushies… frozé anyone? Or ask the bartender to conjure up something with bite, their signatures will have you doing a little shoulder shimmy, you know the one.

Ever told not to play with your food? Not here! Chef’s menu is all about a quick, quality hand full of fun, so you can balance your drink in the other hand. Visit the nitro ice-cream bar for a flavour fix - think ballin’ beer inspired ice-cream cups. Oh, & Chef’s weekend breakfast menu is like Wow...

French Film Festival - The Odyssey

Palace Cinema Como, Como Centre, Level 1, Cnr Toorak Rd & Chapel St, South Yarra

Join us for French Festival film, The Odyssey, and stay on afterwards for dinner at Blossom Thai.

Jérôme Salle’s dazzling biopic will sweep you up in its sails as it follows the chaotic life of celebrity oceanographer Jacques Cousteau; one rich in accomplishments, yet teeming with turmoil.

It is 1943 and the eccentrically ambitious naval officer Cousteau (Lambert Wilson) dreams of adventure. His magnificent new invention of the Aqua-Lung promises to bring him just that. Newly armed with the ability to breathe underwater for long periods of time, Cousteau dedicates his life’s work to his obsession with the sea, becoming the first to create underwater films that dazzle audiences worldwide.

His success comes at a cost, however, as his wife Simone (Audrey Tautou) and sons Philippe (Pierre Niney) and Jean-Michel (Benjamin Lavernhe) struggle to keep up with the stormy seas of Cousteau’s fierce and unfailing determination, the ultimate price of which is yet to come.

Through a dazzling array of global exploration locations, we undertake this lyrical journey almost as if a member of Cousteau’s crew, experiencing the epic highs and excruciating lows of this pioneer’s astounding career which changed humanity’s relationship with the sea forever.

The film will screen in English & French with English subtitles.

Afterwards, we will head over for a scrumptious dinner at Blossom Thai.

Meet Anne at the box office at 3:30pm. The film starts at 4:00pm. The price is for cinema ticket only with all food and drinks at own expense.

If you wish to park at the Como complex, you can show your parking ticket and cinema ticket at the box office to get discounted parking.
